Your Recommended Rating

Three-season
Comfort Rating0°C

The temperature at which a cold sleeper (female) stays comfortable in standard tests. Use this for planning.

Lower Limit-6°C

The lowest temperature at which a standard warm-sleeping male should stay just warm enough. It is not a survival rating — do not plan to sleep at this temperature.

These are planning estimates. Always verify the bag's rating on the manufacturer's current EN/ISO label, and test your sleep system before a trip.

What to look for

A comfort rating near 0 °C covers most spring-to-autumn camping, with a warmer pad underneath.

  • The sleeping pad matters as much as the bag — cold ground pulls heat out fast.
  • Plan for the forecast low, then add a margin for wind and humidity.
  • A dry sleep layer makes a noticeable difference on damp nights.

No product recommendations: brand names, models and prices change too quickly to track reliably. Check the manufacturer's current specification sheet and the retailer's label before you buy.

About EN / ISO Ratings

Modern sleeping bags are tested under the EN 13537 / ISO 23537 standard using a heated mannequin. Each bag gets three ratings:

  • Comfort — a cold sleeper (female) stays comfortable all night.
  • Limit — a warm sleeper (male) just doesn't feel cold.
  • Extreme — survival-only for a cold sleeper (risk of hypothermia).

Always plan using the Comfort rating, not the Limit.
